Mike's Biography
Growing up in the Muskoka’s in Ontario, Canada, I was surrounded by God’s canvas for which he portrayed the beauty of seasonal and colourful landscapes, pristine waters and clear blue sky’s or dramatic weather clouds and wondrous sunrises and sunsets. Many times I would sit alone and simply enjoy what my eyes saw that triggered all my senses. I had always desired to be able to share those visions and wonderful senses with others . In 2005 I started to fulfil that desire. Digital cameras became affordable and I was ready to take the leap of faith. Armed with a Canon – point and shoot, I experimented to my hearts content without breaking the bank. Made my wife a little happier too. I must admit, she was so supportive with my new photography passion thing. She often told me that it was a good thing I wasn’t shooting film or we would be broke however if its really what I wanted to do we would find a way even if we had to “ live in a shoebox” Not that I took her up on that scenario but guess where the name “ A Shoebox of Memories “ comes from??? Not long after, I graduated from my 4 megapixel Canon S4 to a Nikon digital D80 and have never looked back. I’m self taught and still learning every day even on top of my day job. I love to help others see and feel what I do sharing my passion with any one that is interested. I have learned never to underestimate the beauty what surrounds us and never take it for granted even when you have seen it a million times. It’s never the same. Never assume that others aren’t interested in a different perspective of what you see and feel about the God’s creation and any objects that you come in contact with. Open your mind and look closely at the simple things and see beauty, color or texture in even the simplest of things. I did. And now I can easily share it with you.
